Fanatics Sportsbook has added three protections for player prop bets in time for the new NFL season.
The upgrades to Fanatics' offerings include several new products centered on the 'Fair Play MAX' promotion, which is complemented by fresh wagering options, app integration, pricing improvements, and promotions.
Back in September 2024, Fanatics launched its Fair Play Injury-Protection program. Since then, it has saved more than half a million bets overall, including nearly 200,000 NFL bets last season.
For the 2026 NFL season, which got underway on September 9, it has been upgraded to Fair Play MAX, which provides three layers of protection for player prop bets.
This carries no separate fee for all three protection layers, standing apart from some competitors that charge a percentage of the wager.
Fanatics introduces new Fair Play MAX player protection for prop bets
The three key aspects of Fair Play MAX are:
1. First Half Injury Protection (automatic, no charge)
NFL player prop wagers are protected (typically refunded or adjusted) if a qualifying player is injured in the first half and does not return.
This continues the existing Fair Play approach for the full season.
2. Forward Progress Protection
This new feature protects qualifying 'over' player-prop wagers once the player has crossed the posted line, preventing negative-yardage plays from turning a winner into a loser.
Examples of this include quarterback kneel-downs or rushes that result in lost yards.
Fanatics noted 115 qualifying instances last season in which negative yardage impacted an over.
The company has framed this as ensuring "overs will mean over" this season.
3. Second Half Injury Protection via Gameday Token
Customers can now activate a Fair Play MAX Gameday Token on the bet slip to extend injury protection through the second half on one eligible player prop bet per day.
Compensation, when triggered, is typically paid in FanCash.
All these protections apply to straight props and can extend to related products like squad bets.
Fair Play has tended to handle parlays by voiding the affected leg and recalculating the rest of the ticket.
Fanatics unveils fresh offerings for the new NFL season
Fanatics Sportsbook has also increased its wider offering for NFL fans and bettors. Among its new products, NFL Squad Bets will allow customers to select two to eight players and form a combined statistical line for the 'squad'.
Higher lines offer higher payouts, and strong performances by one or more players can carry the group.
This new market includes live tracking and cash-out options, and Fair Play MAX protection is available.
Fanatics Super App
Fanatics has also integrated its Sports and Casino apps, with a unified platform combining the sportsbook, online casino, and prediction market offerings.
This is designed to strengthen the FanCash ecosystem with users earning FanCash on bets, trades, and plays (win or lose) to be redeemed across Fanatics' full range of gaming, apparel and memorabilia.
Other updates include bespoke pricing models across certain NFL markets that are reflective of injury updates and roster changes.
New promotions include 100% profit boost ('Double Your Winnings') on NFL games during Week 1 for new and existing customers, while a weekly 'Triple Touchdown Jackpot' can bring a share of up to $250,000 in FanCash.
Fanatics has also introduced a free-to-play NFL Survivor Pool with a massive $1M FanCash prize pot.
