It is that time of year again, as Levi's Stadium gets set to host Super Bowl LX, a battle between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks on Sunday February 8.

Given it is the most hotly anticipated sporting event in the American calendar, it looks like the public are set to break records when it comes to gambling on the game.
Indeed, according to the American Gaming Association (AGA), a record $1.76bn will be legally wagered in the US prior to the Super Bowl on Sunday.
This figure represents a year-over-year (YoY) increase of 27%, showcasing the increasing growth of the industry across the previous 12 months.
US legal sports betting
Eight years ago, the US Supreme Court struck down a federal ban on sports betting. Fast forward to 2026 and 40 states - plus Washington DC and Puerto Rico - now have at least one form of legalized sports betting.
"No single event brings fans together like the Super Bowl, and this record figure shows just how much Americans enjoy sports betting as part of the experience", AGA President and CEO Bill Miller said in a news release.
"By choosing legal, regulated sportsbooks, fans are having fun while supporting a safe and responsible market."
Who is the favorite to win Super Bowl LX?
The Patriots started the playoffs as the second seeds in the AFC, going on to defeat Denver Broncos, who were the top seeds, to claim the AFC Championship.
Seattle, as top seeds, received a bye through to the Divisional round and they went on to defeat the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams to reach the Super Bowl for the fourth time.
As such, not much separates the two teams heading into the event, although the early wagers have been on the Seahawks, according to Adrian Horton, Senior Director of North American Sports Trading at theScore Bet:
"Not just spread and moneyline, but at the top of all our TD scorer and player prop markets too", he said.
"Coming off of the conference championships, bettors are clearly backing Seattle to have a big day."
The last time the Patriots reached the Super Bowl, they defeated the Rams back in 2018.
Coincidently, Seattle took on the Patriots during their last appearance in the showpiece event, losing 28-24 in Arizona.
"In the biggest event of the year, bettors are pulling for the Seahawks while the book hopes for a low scoring affair with minimal touchdowns", said Christian Cipollini, Trading Manager at BetMGM.
He continued: "Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Seattle's defense/special teams finding paydirt have become bad results for the book right now. While there's still some time before the game, it looks like the game and futures market will be rewarding to bettors if the Seahawks cover the game and win outright."
Last year, over 127 million Americans watched the event - and with the increase in wagering - you can expect there to be plenty more tuning in this Sunday evening.
