The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) released their revenue figures for online casino and sports betting in the Great Lakes State, in February 2026, reporting a 25.4% YoY increase for Michigan's online casinos.

According to the Board's report, the state's regulated online casinos generated $273.1m in online casinos with a further $39.9m in sports betting receipts. Monthly, the figures were down 8.5% and 31.2%, respectively.

Meanwhile, sports betting still showed a year-on-year decline, albeit a lower 6.7%, but online casinos posted an impressive 25.4% compared to February 2025.

Operators will be hoping to see sports betting figures rebound in March, especially as the Michigan Wolverines college basketball team is fancied to go deep in the March Madness tournament.

Michigan online casino performance 2026

Michigan launched its first regulated online casinos in 2021. Today, more than a dozen platforms offer players remote games, including slots and traditional table games. The most recent site to be licensed was Hard Rock Bet, which became the 14th licensed site - when it launched back in December 2025.

On launch day, the site generated $35m in revenue, making it the fourth-largest platform by revenue. Although that figure slipped to $25m in January, it retained fourth place.

A further slide to $20m in February, however, has seen it fall behind BetRivers, and it is now the fifth-largest platform by monthly revenue.

MotorCity Casino, via its FanDuel platform, maintains the largest market share in the state, followed by BetMGM and DraftKings.

While February's iGaming total is down on a monthly basis, it was competing against a record month. February is also a shorter month.

Sports betting operators can expect a healthier bottom line in March, potentially making up for the 31.2% monthly decline witnessed in February.

March Madness has gotten underway. The college basketball tournament will see 64 men's and women's teams compete in 63 matches, with the eventual winner being crowned the Championship Winner.

Due to March Madness, the American Gaming Association (AGA) expects punters to wager $3.3bn on regulated betting sites. This figure will likely be much higher if including unregulated betting sites and prediction platforms.

Michigan Wolverines betting pumping up the wager figures

Michigan bettors have local interest, too, with the Michigan Wolverines men's team expected to go deep in the competition.

The Wolverines lost just one Big Ten game in the lead-up and are one of the top seeds for the tournament. They have outscored opponents by an average of 18.4 points per game.

Coach Dusty May was named 'Big Ten Coach of the Year'and, on court, they are led by Senior Yaxel Lendeborg, who has won the 'Big Ten Player of the Year' award.

Meanwhile, Michigan's three retail casinos – all in Detroit – generated $100.6m in revenue in February. The figure was up 2% compared to February 2025, with the vast majority of the money coming from casino games. Less than $600,000 was attributed to retail sports betting.

MGM Grand Detroit retained its position as the dominant retail casino market force. It accounted for 48% of market share, ahead of MotorCity Casino's 29% and Hollywood Casino's 23%.
