The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), regulators of Michigan online casinos and sportsbooks, have recently announced a partnership with Gamban. This new partnership offers residents in the State free access to gambling blocking software by the company – for those who either want or need it – no strings attached.
These license durations range from either one to five years and anyone who is looking to vastly limit their access to online gambling will be able to apply via the MGCB website.
Gamban X MGCB partnership
Gamban is a blocking solution which limits access to gambling websites and apps across all major devices, which include Android, iOS and Windows. Sports betting operators, licensed casinos and both offshore and unregulated betting platforms are unable to be accessed when using Gamban.
The software provides a highly effective barrier for those who have struggled with gambling addiction and wish to stop, especially as it is difficult for users to remove or disable once applied.
"Michigan is committed to ensuring that the expansion of legal gaming comes with the strongest possible safeguards for our residents," said MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams.
"Our partnership with Gamban gives anyone who wants help a free, proven tool to block access to online gambling – instantly and across all their devices."
Matt Zarb-Cousin, Director of External Affairs at Gamban, added: "We are delighted to partner with the Michigan Gaming Control Board to make Gamban free for people where cost might otherwise be a barrier.
"When someone takes the first step toward quitting gambling, they will be made aware of all the services available in the state via the Gamban app, while it works to block gambling sites and apps in the background. This approach has improved overall rates of abstinence and recovery in other jurisdictions."

Michigan cracking down on offshore gaming and unregulated gambling platforms
Michigan is now firmly established as one of the toughest states with regards to combatting illegal gambling.
In December 2025, the MGCB issued 12 cease-and-desist letters to offshore gambling operators that were specifically targeting residents in Michigan.
The offshore operators: 31 Bets Casino, Betnuvo, BetPhoenix, Booty.bet, Jackpotter, Kings Chance Casino, Mybitcoin Casino, Starbets, The Virtual Casino, This Is Vegas, Vegas Strip Casino and xWin90, were all deemed to be offering illegal casino games or sport betting which violated State law.
Meanwhile, by the start of April this year the MGCB had issued 45 cease-and-desist letters to a variety of offshore gambling operators, showcasing the rise in black market operators as well as how serious the control board are being regarding eliminating illegal gambling activity in the State.
Sandra Johnson, MGCB's Responsible Gaming Section Manager stated: "The Michigan Gaming Control Board works hard to deliver meaningful, accessible responsible gaming support to residents across the state. Gamban helps people take back control, and this partnership ensures that anyone in Michigan who wants that help can get it – free of charge."
