The CEO of the leading MMA promotion company, UFC, gave an insight into his latest content foray, just as Netflix prepares to air a revealing documentary about the 56-year-old’s extravagant gambling lifestyle. BonusFinder, an online casino bonus site, delivers all you need to know about Dana White’s latest gambling plans…
White is known to be a prolific bettor, currently on the crest of a wave following a hot streak at the baccarat table that he claims has been running since September.
He was speaking on Andrew Schulz’s Flagrant podcast when he detailed the plans for his next feature special.
“Give me 30 f**king million in credit. Let me bet a million dollars a hand, and let’s go, me versus you“, indulged White.
“I’m working on a whole deal with this thing right now. The Netflix thing is different, I’m doing a documentary on Vegas. I’m doing that, but I wanna do another thing with Netflix too, me versus the house.”
He continued to explain the concept to Schulz: “You come in like a title fight, and it’s me versus them. They show all the odds on why they should win, I should win, and we go one night, a million a hand. We do a Netflix show like we did for the Canelo vs. Crawford fight.”
Dana White Netflix special could run into trouble in Las Vegas
A pragmatic gambler knows when to walk away from the table, but it appears that Dana White has no intentions of doing that.
The UFC Chief dismissed claims that he has stretched too far, amid claims from The Hollywood Reporter that he has accrued unpaid losses of around $30m at Red Rocks Casino in Las Vegas. He, however, denounced this and stated the claims were “clickbait”.
Such a scenario would indicate a problem, but White is adamant the only issue is with the other casinos in Sin City, which are wary and fearful of his ongoing baccarat bonanza.
Either way, his personal friendship with Red Rocks operators Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta (formerly of the UFC) is likely to keep any potential strife out of the public domain. At least, for now.
Plans for the casino-based Netflix show
The upcoming Netflix show will take a deep dive into the active Las Vegas gambling scene and the culture that underpins it, with White as an enthusiastic participant.
He clearly has a taste for it and wants to take things a step further with the one-night $30m extravaganza, which would certainly capture a lot of attention.
However, his plans for $1m bets at a time could run into trouble in Vegas, potentially opening up a production opportunity in a Far East gambling mecca such as Macau, where he can also bring the UFC brand and prominence.
That thinking is already on his mind, as he wants to break down the gambling streaming special into an MMA-style event, with detailed coverage and pre-event breakdowns of the odds favoring White or the house, his form and the setting.
This would create exposure, anticipation and hype, echoing the familiar themes of a headline UFC fight card event, while Netflix has also platformed the likes of Canelo vs. Crawford as part of Riyadh Season in Saudi Arabia.
Whether or not Netflix signs a deal with him on his latest audacious adventure remains to be seen.
