The long-standing Poker Palace casino venue in North Las Vegas is set to complete its rebrand as Club Fortune North.
Situated at 2757 Las Vegas Blvd N, the storied casino has operated through the last six decades after it was opened in 1974 under the ownership of the Coleman family.
Poker Palace shut its doors in October last year, but its new phase is on the horizon following a full refurbishment by new owners, Truckee Gaming LLC, which acquired the business for $20m.
On February 11, the Nevada Gaming Control Board gave its recommendation that the Nevada Gaming Commission signal the green light for Truckee Gaming's licensing request to operate the casino as Club Fortune North.
If approved, the former Poker Palace would become Truckee's 11th portfolio asset, with its other casino ventures ranging across several locations in the north of Nevada, as well as the original Club Fortune in Henderson, NV.
Club Fortune North scheduled to open in April
The launch for the new North Las Vegas-based Club Fortune North has been scheduled for mid-April, pending all regulatory sign-offs.
Ferenc Szony, CEO of Truckee Gaming, detailed the extent of reconstruction inside the venue:
"It was a total gut job on the interior, where we had to rip out part of the floor. We're in the process of rebuilding", said Szony.
He went on to stress the urgency of getting the casino up and running, with more staff to be onboarded and the red carpet rolled out to patrons.
"If we can get it going with 80% of the things going, we would do that. That's how the construction gets finished."
Reflecting on the previous guise of the venue, Szony added:
"It had the look that if Circus Circus and the Excalibur had a baby, that was Poker Palace.
"It really needed a dramatic change."
Club Fortune's website has teased the new casino, pledging to deliver "Strip quality gaming packed in a friendly, hometown setting".
They have stated that the aim is to deliver the best possible experience for all guests.
Boomer's Sportbook to be offered at new North Las Vegas casino
A fresh new look and a rebranding will soon be complete, with Club Fortune North set to feature a Boomer's Sportsbook, incorporating horse racing and sports betting into its offering.
"It's new for us to have horse betting operations. Let's see how it goes, and hopefully it will work well", said Szony.
The burgeoning North Las Vegas area was cited as a key factor for the arrival of Club Fortune's 11th venture, with the location ticking all of the desired boxes.
"We've been looking for another property in the greater Las Vegas area for quite some time," continued the CEO.
"This one hit because of where it's at. We're pretty optimistic, which is why when you see what it is to become, it will be a credit to the community and that area that's renovating itself."
The new casino arrival in North Las Vegas will feature extensive upgrades to the interior and exterior, including an overhaul of the bar and expanded restaurant and kitchen space.
Truckee Gaming intends to move slot machines between its properties, but that plan is still to be approved.
Club Fortune North will not host table games, with a subsequent reduction in staff from 125 to around 100.
