Kansas online gambling

Kansas is one of the new states joining the real money online gambling club.

Kansas legislature officially passed the sports betting bill SB84 on May 12, 2022. The bill legalized both retail and online sports betting in the state. Kansas regulators worked swiftly to launch sports betting before the NFL season, and the first sportsbooks approved by Kansas officials and the four state-owned casinos launched online betting on September 1st.

Online casino games are not regulated in Kansas, and there is no online casino legislation on the table. Friends of online games and slot machines can head to one of the four commercial or six Native American casinos in the state. For those looking to play online, social casinos, horse racing, and daily fantasy sports are convenient legal online gambling options.

July 1, 2022: The Kansas regulators are working quickly to launch the online betting market and are expected to release a draft of the regulations to the four commercial casinos on the 22nd of July. ⭐ Kansas Online Casinos

Although there has been an impressive amount of progress in making online gambling legal in Kansas, there are still a number of things that the law doesn’t allow. For example, online casino gambling for real money is not legal in Kansas and no bill has been introduced to change this. If online gamblers want to play at Kansas online casinos, or try out online casino games, they need to play on sweepstakes, which are technically not considered online gambling in Kansas. On these casinos, you can play online casino games for sweepstake prizes which can be exchanged for money.

Kansas Online Casino Bonus
Gambino Slots 200 Free Spins
Slotomania 1,000,000 Free Coins
Funzpoint $22 Bonus
Hard Rock Social Casino 200,000 Free Credits
House of Fun 100 Free Spins

⭐ Other Gaming Options

Even though online casinos remain illegal and sports betting has not launched, Kansas residents have several other (online) gambling options. The Lottery has been running since 1988 and the state allows online horse betting. Kansas is also one of the states that have made a law legalizing daily fantasy sports contests.

Kansas Gambling

Kansas bettors can start gambling online within months as KS betting apps are going live soon.

The Lottery was approved by voters in 1986, and the next year it joined the Multi-State Lottery Association. The first lottery tickets went on sale in 1988 and Powerball followed in 1992. Since 2010, Kansas residents have also been able to participate in Mega Millions draws.

Kansas also has some bingo options. The operation of bingo games and raffles is limited to non-profit religious, charitable, fraternal, educational, and veterans organizations. The prize limit for regular bingo games is $1,263. However, Kansas also allows instant draw bingo machines. You can find out more about Kansas bingo options from the official Kansas State Bingo page. Currently, no online bingo sites are allowed to operate.

Daily Fantasy Sports

In 2015, Kansas passed a bill regulating DFS. The bill explicitly legalized DFS, which is still uncommon in the US. Since then, several operators have entered the Kansas DFS market. FanDuel and DraftKings are naturally the biggest sites, but you can find competitors like Monkey Knife Fight and SuperDraft in the state as well.

Horse and Dog Racing

The glory days of Kansas horse betting are long gone. Kansas used to have three racetracks and a greyhound racing track, but the Kansas Expanded Lottery Act of 2007 and high taxes closed their doors. Since the last race track closed almost 15 years ago, horse wagering and pari-mutuel betting has been available only on sites like TVG, TwinSpires, and BetAmerica.

There has been discussions on how to resurrect the horse racing industry in KS, but nothing has passed the legislature. With sports wagering now legalized, another push to allow the tracks to open and partner with online sportsbooks could be coming soon.

Online Poker

Online poker is not legal in Kansas. However, you can participate in home games as long as you don’t take rake. Some casinos also have poker rooms as land-based gambling options for Kansas gamblers.

⭐ Land-Based Casinos

There are ten Kansas land-based casinos. Six are tribal casinos, operated by the state’s Native American tribes. The other four are commercial casinos operated by Penn National, Boyd Gaming, Peninsula Pacific, and Boot Hill Gaming. Only the four commercially licensed casinos are eligible to provide online sports betting in Kansas. Interestingly, the state of Kansas has claimed a stake in all commercial operations, which is unique in the U.S.

You can visit one of the several casinos in Kansas if you want to play table games, video poker, and slot machines. There’s six tribal casinos and four commercial ones.

⭐ Kansas Gaming Rules & Regulations

Kansas gambling laws are enforced by the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission. The state tax for betting will be at 10%, both in person and online. Bettors can wager on in-state college teams, and there are few limitations on events that you can wager on. For example, e-sports betting is allowed. As in all states, employees and their family members are not allowed to claim bonuses from online sportsbooks or for horse racing, or participate in casino games at the casino where they work at. The $1,263 win limit for bingo is unique for Kansas.

Gambling Age Limits

Kansas allows residents aged 18 or older to play bingo games, lottery, and wager on horse racing. Unlike many other states, the age limit for Daily Fantasy Sports is 21+. Sports betting and casino age limit in Kansas is 21+ as well.

Daily Fantasy Sports 21+
Horse Racing 18+

You can also choose to play on sweepstakes casinos. We absolutely don't recommend offshore gambling sites as they are not regulated by state officials. If you start playing on offshore gambling sites, you don't have any legal recourse if the gambling site mistreats you.

In 2013, a bill to ban online gambling in Kansas was introduced by Kansas lawmakers, but it failed. While it seems unlikely to be introduced again, the best online casinos are not expected to launch anytime soon.
