As such, with Halloween being just around the corner and spooky season in full swing, we wanted to look at five famous horror characters who we think would murder a game of poker, and why they might display the perfect ‘poker face’.
Here are our top five horror movie killers we think would be great at playing poker:
1. Jigsaw (Saw):
John Kramer, commonly known as Jigsaw – from the Saw movies – loved games. His love of playing games was so intertwined with his life, that he cut the shape of a jigsaw puzzle piece from the remains of people who he killed. Therefore, we feel he’ll be great at playing poker because of his love for playing ‘a real game’, however he would probably rig the deck ahead of time whilst mercilessly asking the other players “want to play a game?”.

This is backed up by Tobin Bell, who is the actor that plays Jigsaw, who says that he thinks very pragmatically about things. Jigsaw is very analytical and is a good judge of character and thinks in a ‘worst case scenario’ mode – which would be ideal for deciding whether to fold or not!
Furthermore, he is a very good judge of character. For example, making Detective Matthews fall right into his trap – which he did. You can imagine Jigsaw would be able to do the exact same thing around the poker table and trick his opponents into doing what he wants… whether that’s to fold, to raise, or even go all-in.
2. Michael Myers (Halloween):
Like Jigsaw, but for different reasons, we believe Michael Myers would be a great poker player. From the Halloween movies, his iconic poker face and silence would leave his players none the wiser on whether his hand is any good or not.

His mask means that his opponents can never read his mood or facial expressions. All of these skills make it clear that Michael Myers would be brilliant at the poker table – you might not want to be sat across the table from him though…
3. Hannibal Lecter (Silence of the Lambs):
The third horror movie killer we think would excel as a poker player is Hannibal Lecter. One of the most formidable horror movie characters ever. Firstly, he is known for being able to cheat at cards which would naturally transition to being able to cheat his card.

- Strategy: 10/10
Whatever form of poker he’d be playing, he’ll be able to transform a pair into a royal flush in no time. Plus, his personality traits of wanting control, staying calm and being a big manipulator are ideal for making a successful poker player.
4. Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th)
In fourth place we have the infamous Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th. In terms of poker face, he’s got this one locked down – because you can’t see his real face (and you wouldn’t want to either!). The hockey mask hides all and any tells.

- Strategy: 7/10
Tactically, Voorhees would be calling everybody’s bluff because he feels no fear. His lack of empathy – or any feelings in fact – will play massively in his favor. The lack of any emotion will make it hard to tell if he’s holding two fours or a royal flush – you’d have no idea.
Jason also has the patience of a saint, so he can plan strategically. He also has a high level of resilience and determination, thanks to dying like 14 times and bouncing back every time. You think he’s scared of losing a hand of cards? Please.
5. Chucky (Child’s Play):
We’ve talked about Jigsaw loving a game, but so does this cheeky chap. In fact, Chucky could even be as nuanced as to beat Jigsaw’s game…
Despite being a two-foot tall doll with a thirst for bloody murder, he was a human before. Chucky was a human who was also a thief, fraud and killer – making him a master manipulator and a genius at being able to read people and take advantage of them.

- Strategy: 10/10
Built for bluffing, Chucky’s entire life purpose is to play people. This makes him a perfect poker player, he’d play with everyone’s mind and even physically attack them to avenge a win – or be a distraction (to win) at the very least.
Chucky has no moral compass and zero respect for rules. You can guarantee he’s sneaking peeks at other hands, swapping cards when no one’s looking, or sneaking under-the-table to get up to some tomfoolery.
The Poker Face Killer Winner
Our winner would have to be the infamous Jigsaw. We all know how much he loves to rig a game, so that he is always winning – so the likelihood is he will rig this game too. In fact, he probably has traps set up, so all of his fellow poker players die before they’ve even been dealt their hand… good luck getting to the poker room, let alone receiving your hand. Jigsaw will kill you before you’ve even been given your cards!
