Rush Street Interactive (RSI), makers of online slots, and BurraPay have agreed a deal that will see cryptocurrency payment solutions integrated on RSI-owned platforms, such as BetRivers.

Announced on October 6, this accord marks BetRivers’ debut foray into the increasingly prevalent crypto space – with registered players now permitted to fund their accounts via ‘decentralized’ tokens, as well as traditional currency.

This joint effort seeks to unify the crypto and dollar banking experience by allowing players to ‘seamlessly’ transfer cryptocurrencies via mobile and desktop.

A phased integration period shall now ensue – as BetRivers and BurraPay unlock crypto-enabled payments on a jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction basis, per state and regulatory approval.

However, international platforms under the RSI umbrella will not yet benefit from BurraPay’s state-of-the-art cryptocurrency banking solution. This contract applies solely to the BetRivers casino and sportsbook products in North America, though other regions may enter the fray should this collaboration succeed.

BurraPay Co-Founder and CTO, Luke Millanta, branded the newfound pact a “milestone” for both organizations: “We are thrilled to welcome Rush Street Interactive as our first US customer. This agreement is a milestone for both companies – and for the industry as a whole – as it proves that cryptocurrency payments can be delivered in a compliant, player-friendly and scalable way.

Rush Street Interactive has always been an innovator in online gaming, and we couldn’t ask for a better partner to showcase what BurraPay can do.

Towing a similar line was RSI CEO Richard Swartz, who praised BurraPay’s dedication to modern regulatory frameworks: “BurraPay has demonstrated a compliance-first approach that perfectly aligns with our values and regulatory commitments.

We are excited to offer our BetRivers players the flexibility to fund their accounts with cryptocurrency – an option that will enhance the overall gaming experience and reinforces our commitment to putting our players first.

A new crypto-focused dawn for the US market…

This week’s announcement represents a substantial forward leap in the domestic iGaming space – as BetRivers stands as the first major operator to support cryptocurrency transactions. Until this announcement, players exploring crypto-centric banking were forced onto unlicensed offshore websites.

The project will undoubtedly serve as a testbed for future products, with rival corporations eager to discover whether there is tangible working interest in blockchain-based payments in the online gaming sphere.

Moreover, those within the industry will be eager to ascertain whether the regulated market welcomes cryptocurrency tokens. Certification has proven a significant hurdle for crypto payments up to this point, as regulators remain wary of potential anti-money laundering frailties. BurraPay specializes in addressing those issues.

As for players, this arrangement serves as the beginning of more private and potentially quicker transactions.

It is not the first time that either firm has cemented vital deals this year. In September, RSI partnered with debit payment solution Sightline to reinforce player safety efforts.

Later that same month, BurraPay revealed that it had extended its services to Bragg Gaming Group, a content delivery and player management platform.

Attention now turns to regulatory approval – as RSI and BurraPay seek to convince industry overseers of this facility’s legitimacy. If successful, it could pave the way for similar cryptocurrency integration across iGaming products.
