Live dealers replaced by AI terminals in Las Vegas’ oldest casino
As more people have started playing at online casinos, leaving brick-and-mortar casinos with less and less guests, the oldest casino in Las Vegas – Golden Gate Hotel & Casino – has officially announced the replacement of its dealer-hosted casino games with AI-powered terminals.
This transition to electronic table games (ETGs) was revealed during the summer, as Interblock and Golden Gate signed a crucial exclusive deal to install ‘state-of-the-art’ betting terminals throughout the historic establishment.
Now, players can expect to find ETG-generated roulette, craps and blackjack – all available at the touch of a button.
What should players expect from Interblock’s ETGs?
Interblock is an ETG supplier that focuses on “luxury” gaming products.
As stated in a press release published in the wake of this week’s announcement, the company is planning to “recreate the energy of traditional tables within a visually stunning environment.”
In August, Golden Gate Hotel & Casino CEO Derek Stevens outlined that visitors should “expect more excitement, faster gameplay and all the newest machines.”
Responsive lighting stands at the heart of these changes – with the casino floor expected to accurately reflect player inputs and results. Further, craps will now incorporate player-led qualities, propelling craps dice higher into the air the harder a player pushes buttons and showcasing dazzling roulette balls on every spin.
Whether players view these augmentations in a positive light will come down to personal preference. Seasoned Golden Gate visitors may feel that the interpersonal dynamic between dealers and players represents a regression in service.
Meanwhile, newcomers might welcome the ease with which ETGs allow inexperienced individuals to begin wagering.
ETGs replace Golden Gate’s ‘Dancing Dealers’
Since being founded in 1906, Golden Gate Hotel & Casino has stood at the heart of industry-wide innovation.
The venue’s ‘dancing dealers’ were long considered a core selling point – but these iconic game hosts are to be ousted by AI-driven ETGs.
As such, the casino will hold a special ceremonial ‘Last Dance, Last Deal’ event on Friday September 19. Dubbed an “energetic tribute to the joy and entertainment” presented by the establishment’s talented dealers over the years, attendees can expect free cocktails, one-of-a-kind merchandise and playing cash; all in celebration of the organization’s illustrious past and promising future.
A casino at the forefront of modern innovation…
One year shy of its 120th anniversary, Las Vegas’ Golden Gate Hotel & Casino remains determined to spearhead transformations within the industry. On this point, CEO Derek Stevens said:
“Being the oldest property in Las Vegas, Golden Gate has a history of firsts, and we’re proud to keep that spirit alive by introducing the city’s latest gaming innovation.”
John Connelly, Interblock Global CEO, echoed that sentiment – hailing the firm’s technology as a “new benchmark” in the region: “Interblock is honored to partner with Golden Gate Casino on this historic transition. Our ETGs bring the best of both worlds — the camaraderie of classic table games, combined with the fast-paced, interactive play that today’s players are looking for.
“Together with Derek and his team, we are setting a new benchmark for what the downtown Las Vegas gaming experience can be.“
