π How to Bet on the Colorado Avalanche
Before you can wager on the Avs, you need to either download an app for the sportsbook you wish to use or visit their website to sign up. You’ll need to provide some personal details and deposit some money before you can place your first bet. Fortunately, most sports betting sites in Colorado have made registration very easy, so you should be good to go in no time.
1. Download a Betting App
The easiest way to bet on sports is through a designated sports betting app. Some apps, like Bally Bet, even offer special deals and promotions just for app users, so we definitely recommend getting a sportsbook app. Most sportsbooks provide both an iOS and an Android app, and the apps can be downloaded from the App Store or the Google Play Store.
In some cases, you must download the Android app through the sportsbook website. However, many providers have also optimized their websites for mobile use, so an app is not a necessity to wager bets on your phone.
2. Register for the Sportsbook
Now that you have the app or the betting site in front of you, you can register for an account. You must provide some personal information to the betting sites, such as your name, phone number, and email. All books require this to ensure your identity. Sometimes the sportsbooks might ask for your photo ID copy to verify your identity. If you want to activate the sportsbook bonus, check whether the site requires a bonus code or an opt-in. You must then make a deposit to claim the bonus, and now you can place a bet!
3. Place Your Bets
So let’s get to it. Some sportsbooks provide risk-free bets, so you get a free bet if your first bet loses. Other sites offer deposit match bonuses or wager matches, but all bonuses usually require a deposit. You can place several types of bets through your account, but the following are the most common bet types you can find on any given sportsbook.
Moneyline: Bets on the winning team of the game. Sportsbooks always list a favorite and an underdog for every game; betting on the underdog can give you a bigger payout. If the Avs odds are -135 against the Flyers odds of +220, Avs are the favorites.
Totals (Over/Under): Total bets are bets on the total number of goals, over or under a given number. If you bet over 5.5 and the game ends 3-4, you’ve won your bet.
Spread Bets: Spread bets are known as pucklines for hockey betting. The line is usually set for 1.5, but can be higher depending on the match-up. A bet on the puckline means you think a team will win by two goals or more, or stay within one goal/win outright.
Prop Bets: Player prop bets mean betting on an individual player’s points or saves, or on which team scores first. Different sportsbooks offer different prop bets, so you might want to shop around if these pique your interest.
Parlays: Parlay bets combine several wagers into one, and all must be correct for you to win. For example, you can place a moneyline bet for Avalanche, Penguins and Stars to win. If only the Avs and Pens win, you’ve lost the parlay bet.
Futures: Futures are just what they sound like, bets on future events. Most common is betting on the Stanley Cup winner, but some books also offer bets on the Conn Smythe and Hart Trophy winners or division champions.
Best Betting App
Colorado is home to numerous sports betting sites and apps, and has a very competitive sports betting market. However, if we had to name one, BetMGM Colorado stands out with their user experience, betting options, and great promotions. BetMGM has also partnered with NHL, and streamed games on their platform. Since BetMGM also provides competitive lines for NHL betting, they have everything a bettor could hope for.
Betting on the Avalanche is very easy on the numerous Colorado sportsbooks.

π Roster
Avalanche has one of the best rosters in the league and have been able to keep their core group together for a few years now. Winning the Stanley Cup last season was the culmination of several years of hard work and numerous disappointments, and now the team is ready to win some more. In recent years, only the Lightnign and the Penguins have been able to win back-to-back Cups, mainly because their teams stayed relatively in tact.
Forwards: Andrew Cogliano, J.T. Compher, Darren Helm, Gabriel Landeskog (C), Artturi Lehkonen, Nathan MacKinnon (A), Alex Newhook, Valeri Nichuskin, Logan O’Connor, Mikko Rantanen (A)
Defensemen: Bowen Byram, Andreas Englund, Samuel Girard, Brad Hunt, Erik Johnson, Kurtis MacDermid, Cale Makar, Josh Manson, Devon Toews
Goalies: Pavel Francouz, Alexander Georgiev, Jonas Johansson
Colorado Off-Season Trades
Colorado made a few moves during the NHL off-season. While key players like Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen and Cale Makar are locked in for future seasons, Nazem Kadri is still on the market and his return to the Avs is looking unlikely. Kuemper was traded to Washington to make room for Georgiev, while trade deadline acquisitions Artturi Lehkonen and Josh Manson earned themselves new contracts with the Avs. Other notable losses were Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Andre Burakovsky, and Nico Sturm.
Colorado sports bettors can wager on the Avs on any of the Colorado sportsbooks.
π 2021-2022 Season
The Avalanche was ready to go all the way in the ’21-22 season after once again dropping in the second around of the playoffs in 2021. Following a somewhat sluggish start to the season, Colorado found its groove and topped the Western Conference, although they lost the Presidents Trophy to the Florida Panthers (perhaps on purpose to avoid the associated curse). This time, there was no stopping Colorado as they rounded up Nashville, St. Louis, and Edmonton in the West before facing the defending Champs Tampa Bay. The finals were heated and Colorado was all set to win the Cup at home in Game #5, but had to return to Tampa where Lehkonen nailed the Stanley Cup winning goal early in the game.
Statistics from Previous Seasons
For several years, Colorado had great success during the regular season only to get eliminated in the second round of the playoffs. They finally rose to the occasion and won the Stanley Cup in 2022 after years of being the top contender but always falling short.

Recent Top Draft Picks
The NHL Draft is perhaps not as followed as the NFL draft but still has its share of loyal followers who check out the top prospects each year. Avalanche has had some top picks in the past few years and has signed a couple of the top picks to contracts. Recently, fans saw Alex Newhook and Bowen Byram take the ice at Pepsi Center for the first time. In the 2022, Colorado has only four end-rounds picks but ended up trading #97 and #161 to the New York Rangers.
