The bigger risk free bet is for points betting. We’ll talk more about this unique way of placing bets below. However, as a quick summary, you’ll wager a prop bet or a totals bet. The payout depends on how “correct” you are. So if you take the over on a basketball game, the more points are are scored the higher your payout. If your first pointsbetting bet loses, you’ll get refunded in bet credits or free bets as well.

PointsBet is the king of America when it comes to ongoing promotions. From deposit bonus offers to odds boosts, they are running at least half a dozen promotions at any given time. Here is what’s available at the PointsBet promotions section at the time of writing.
Betting isn’t the only way to make money on PointsBet. The site also offers finder fees to players who get their friends to make a deposit. After betting through $1,000 and being a site member for 14 days, share your referral link with interested friends. Once a friend deposits a minimum of $50 on PointsBet, both you AND your friend will get $50 in bonus bets! You can earn up to $2,500 in wagers per year doing this.
Single Game Parlay Insurance
One game parlay bets are combinations of several prop bets, totals bet, and straight bets. PointsBet Sportsbook offers these pre game wagers on any sport, but the insurance promotion is only available for NHL and NBA games. With the insurance promotion, you’ll get your money back if one part of your parlay falls short. This gaming option will be available for NFL games during the NFL season as well.
With a cashout, you can take out your winnings during the game, if you see a potential for a payout but are also afraid that the game won’t go your way. A partial cash out allows you to take out only a percentage of your winnings and let the rest ride.
PointsBet has a Karma Kommittee that deals with bad beat refunds. If you suffer a bad call or a season-ending injury, the Kommittee has the power to execute a Good Karma Payout, refunding all affected bettors in Free Bets. You can tweet them at #KarmaKommittee if you spot a brutal beat.
Parlay Booster Odds
PointsBet will give you one parlay boost every day when you create a 3+ leg parlay or single game parlay in your bet slip. If your parlay hits, you get paid more than you normally would.
2 Boosts of the Week
You’ll also get two weekly boosts every week. They are given out to the favorite futures bets of Paige Spinarac (former professional golfer, and social media personality) and Teddy Greenstein (PointsBet’s resident sports writer and columnist). With both being golf specialists, these booster odds are usually heavily golf focused.
Name a Bet
It’s not technically a promotion, but you can request a bet you would like to see directly in the PointsBet app. On the lefthand side menu of the PointsBet mobile app, click ‘Name a Bet’ and you can request any market you want.
PointsBet Sportsbook Review
PointsBet, an Australian gambling startup couldn’t stand out more from other sports betting sites. Originally, PointsBet launched in 2017 when they opened a NJ online sports betting site by partnering with Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey in 2018. They offer a unique twist on spread betting that could make knowledgeable sports bettors a TON of cash. Called PointsBetting, it is currently taking the USA sports betting community by storm.
In addition to New Jersey, PointsBet is legal in five states; Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, Colorado, and Illinois. In all of these states, they have the same $2000 bonus with the promo code BONUS2000. As per American gambling laws, PointsBet has needed to acquire official betting partners to operate in these states. They are also the official sports betting partner for many Major League teams.

What is PointsBetting?
PointsBet offers their own variant of betting they call PointsBetting. What exactly is it? In equity and commodity markets, investors have used spread betting to make piles of money for years. You accept an ask price if you think an equity/commodity will rise, or the bid price if you think it will fall. Then, you lock in a bet per point. If the market moves in your favour, you make money. Similarly, if it moves against you, you lose money.
How does it work?
PointsBetting copies this approach and applies it to sports betting. Let’s say you want to bet on the total points scored in an NBA game. For the Raptors versus the Knicks, PointsBet has assigned an over/under of 200. You take the over, wagering $20 per point.
Standard sports betting multiplies your bet by the odds to produce a win amount. In PointsBetting, you make money for every point the wager moves in your favour. If both basketball teams end up scoring 218 points, you will have won the bet by 18 points. Multiply that by your $20 per point wager, and you’ve just made $360! However, if they score a combined of 180, you are out of $400, so take care!
Unique Betting Markets
The example described above uses a common wager familiar to most sports bettors. While PointsBetting offers these common sports wagers, they have innovated by bringing in bets not seen on other sports betting sites.
For example, they offer bets based on quarterback completion percentages, time to the first touchdown, and basketball shooting percentages. All work well within the PointsBetting system, which further bolsters this unique type of sports betting.
Sports Betting Markets
PointsBet offers a plethora of markets for players to choose from. Most markets are available for both pointsbetting and for those who want to place a fixed odds bet. Some of the fixed odds markets include
- NBA Bets
- College Football
- March Madness
- Champions League
- UFC / MMA
- PGA Tour
- & More
In addition to Points betting, PointsBet sportsbook also accepts standard betting options based on fixed odds. New to sports betting online? Below are the bet types offered by this online sportsbook:
- Prop bets: wager on a specific player, or team-related event of the game. In other words, a proposition bet. Examples of prop bets include, the first player to score a goal; which team wins the third quarter; how many times Gisele Bündchen will be shown during the Superbowl.
- Moneyline bets: wager on a team to win the game outright. Teams with “plus odds” (e.g. +140) are underdogs – if you bet $100, you’ll get $140 in profit. Teams with “minus odds” are favorites – for instance, to profit $100 off a -160 team, you’d need to risk $160.
- Parlay bets: combination of two or more bets. The odds of these wagers going your way are longer – hit, and you could earn yourself a nice payday.
- Live bets: wager in-game (in-play) as the game begins. Betting options and odds are updated as the game is played live.
- Point spread bets: made by equalizing two teams for wagering purposes. The sportsbook achieves this by requiring the better team to win by a predetermined number of points for a bet on that team to cash.
- Over/under bets (totals): wagering on going over or under the total/combined number of expected points of a sports match up.
- Futures betting: wager on a specific player or team-related outcome only settled at the end of the season. The most common form: Betting on which team will win the championship in the upcoming season. These wagers feature astronomical odds.
- Live Betting: Like other sportsbooks, PointsBet offers in-game wagering on events that are happening right now.
