NFL Super Bowl LVII Betting Preview: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Super Bowl LVII is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EST on Feb. 12, 2023 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. We’ll spend the next two weeks scrutinizing different betting aspects of the Super Bowl LVII matchup between the Chiefs and Eagles. This week’s piece focuses on holistic spread, moneyline and point total betting lines, while next week’s will dive into the minutiae of the top player prop bets.

After backing up their 38-7 divisional-round trouncing of the Giants with a 31-7 blowout of the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, the Philadelphia Eagles have opened as consensus two-point spread favorites at mobile sportsbooks such as BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook. The spread is only 1.5 points on FanDuel Sportsbook. Consequently, the moneyline odds for Super Bowl LVII are also slightly different on FanDuel Sportsbook. While the early consensus has the Eagles at -130 and Chiefs at +110, those numbers are -126 and +108, respectively, on FanDuel.

To bet on Super Bowl LVII through FanDuel Sportsbook or any other mobile sportsbooks, you must be at least 21 years old and located in a state where mobile sports betting is legal. Ohio was recently added to that list, but Kansas City’s 23-20 win over the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game means Ohioans won’t have the opportunity to bet on one of their local teams in the Super Bowl this year. New FanDuel Sportsbook users can sign up now to place a No Sweat First Bet up to $3,000 on the Super Bowl. This promotion will fully match your initial wager in bonus bets, all the way up to $3,000, if your first bet loses.

While your No Sweat First Bet can be used on a moneyline or spread wager, you might be best off betting on the point total, which is set at 49.5 at most mobile sportsbooks, including FanDuel Sportsbook. In the four games played by either the Eagles or Chiefs this postseason, the combined point total has yet to exceed 47, with an average of 43.3 points. Star quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts have both played key roles in helping their respective teams get here, but strong defense has also been a crucial component of both teams’ paths to the Super Bowl. Look for the defenses to step up again and keep the point total under 49.5.
