First Maryland Online Sportsbook Applicants Are Revealed

The first applicants for Maryland online sports betting licenses have been released by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission. Ten brands were in the list, and the Commission meets again on October 27th to push the applications forward.

The Sports Wagering Application Review Commission ultimately grants permissions to start accepting bets, and they meet on November 21st. This means that the first brands could be launching in November 2022, although a December start seems more likely for most.

The start of Maryland online gambling through sports wagering has been long-awaited as Governor Hogan signed the betting bill into law in Spring 2021. Retail sportsbooks opened in December 2021, and soon bettors can wager on MD sportsbook apps.

Maryland Online Wagering Applicants

There were no surprises among the first applicants, and it is very likely that all of them will be licensed as soon as possible. No firm launch dates have been announced, but since all have plenty of online betting experience, the process of going live shouldn’t take too long. The announced applicants were:

Barstool
Betfred Sports
BetMGM
BetRivers
Caesars
DraftKings
Fanatics
FanDuel
Parx
PointsBet

First Pre-Launch Bonuses Are Out

Marylanders can now register on DraftKings MD and FanDuel to get new customer bonuses of $200 and $100 in free bets, respectively.
