College Football season is coming to an end, and we’re nearing the 2023 NFL draft. Ohio State QB CJ Stroud is among the favorites for the first overall pick in the NFL Draft, and is almost certain to be the first quarterback drafted. Currently, he’s listed at most Ohio betting apps as the second favorite with +175 odds. He does face stiff competition from Bryce Young, the Alabama Crimson Tide Quarterback, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2021. Bryce Young is listed at +140.
Currently, Stroud and Bryce Young are overwhelming favorites, with Will Anderson at +480 the only other player listed at under +1000 odds. Most early mock drafts have either Young or Stroud going first, and the other one second. This is also reflected in the NBA Draft odds for 2023:
Player | NFL Draft First Pick Odds | Team |
---|---|---|
Bryce Young | +140 | Alabama |
CJ Stroud | +175 | Ohio State |
Will Anderson | +480 | Alabama |
Jalen Carter | +1600 | Georgia |
Will Levis | +1600 | Kentucky |
Olumuyiwa Fashanu | +3000 | Penn State |
Paris Johnson | +4000 | Ohio State |
Peter Skoronski | +4000 | Northwestern Wildcats |
Myles Murphy | +5000 | Clemson |
Bryan Bresee | +6000 | Clemson |
NFL mock drafts often accurately predict the first pick of the NFL draft. A few early mock draft’s have already been completed, and Ohio State Quarterback CJ Stroud is among the first picks in most:
Ohio sportsbooks open on January 1st, 2023. Therefore, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy Ohio sports betting promos before the 2023 NFL draft. The best odds for betting on the first overall pick can usually be found from FanDuel Sportsbook, DraftKings Ohio, or BetMGM Sportsbook Ohio.
The Houston Texans are clear favorites for picking first in the 2023 NFL Draft with almost an 87% chance of having the first, followed far behind by the Chicago Bears who have a 9% chance for the first pick. This is of course the preliminary order and is subject to change through trades:
TEAM | CHANCE OF PICKING NO. 1 |
---|---|
Houston Texans | 86.0% |
Chicago Bears | 9.7% |
L.A. Rams (DET pick) | 1.9% |
Denver Broncos (SEA pick) | 1.9% |
Carolina Panthers | 0.1% |
Indianapolis Colts | 0.1% |
Jacksonville Jaguars | 0.2% |
Arizona Cardinals | 0.1% |
With Deshaun Watson gone, the Texans need a new franchise quarterback. Therefore, as long as the Texans don’t trade their no1. pick away, they will either choose CJ Stroud or Bryce Young. Which of these quarterbacks will go first is still a 50/50 proposition. However, the next teams to pick, Rams & Chicago, might go for other options than a QB, so the second pick is not necessarily going to be Stroud or Young, and might be Alabama’s edge rusher Will Anderson.
Stroud is a 6’3 and 220 quarterback, with excellent abilities. His main strength is his throwing arm, which he’s used to throw for 3,340 yards in 2022, and 4,435 yards in 2021. Stroud is the poster boy for what NFL coaches look in a modern quarterback and that’s why he’s the favorite for the first overall pick in the NFL Draft.
